Just finished "Foundations: Data, Data, Everywhere" — the first course in Google's Data Analytics series on Coursera.
I came to this from an odd angle. Math degree, design career, and a marketing role where I keep bumping into the same wall: I can make the thing, but I want to be sharper about knowing whether it worked.
Course one is mostly groundwork — what analysts actually do, how they think, the vocabulary. No heavy lifting yet. But there's something clarifying about seeing the whole discipline laid out before you touch a single spreadsheet.
For a designer, the overlap is bigger than I expected. Both fields are really about noticing what's true, then presenting it so someone else can see it too.
One down. On to the next.
